(Spirit Lake)– The Good Neighbor Fund of Dickinson County is in the midst of its annual fundraising campaign. Board Chairman Luke Donnenwerth says 18 nonprofit organizations in the county will benefit through this year’s fund drive…
“This year has certainly been unique and challenging for a lot of different organizations and businesses and the donation that we’re able to make back to these groups is going to have a huge impact maybe this year more than other years. So it will be a good thing to do. The easiest way would be if you want to mail a check would be to the Good Neighbor Fund, and that address is P.O. Box 454, Spirit Lake, Iowa…51360.”
Donnenworth says they’re hoping to atleast match what they were able to do last year…
“Last year we gave just shy of $90,000 to these groups. So we’re just looking at these nonprofits in the area. Their operating budgets in some cases aren’t very large and the gift that we’re able to give them goes a long way in supporting what they do in our local area.”
Donnenworth says the pandemic this year is causing a lot of hardship for all of the nonprofit groups out there…
“I encourage any other nonprofits that need support, we do take applications each year, and so if there’s any other groups out there that aren’t on our fund drive this year, I would encourage you to apply next year if it would be something that benefits your group.”
The goal for this year’s Good Neighbor Fund drive is $85,000.
