The Spencer Community Theatre will present their holiday production both in-house and online. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
(Spencer)-The Spencer Community Theatre will present Elf, The Musical December 4-6 and 11-3.
Executive Artistic Director Liz McNea says it’s a fun show for all ages. “Elf The Musical is very similar to the movie with the exception of they’ve added an actual score to it that’s really fun and bright, absolutely will bring holiday cheer for everyone to hear is what they say in the show, and it does deliver that. It’s the story of Buddy the Elf and how he discovers that he is not, in fact, an elf, he is human and then his journey to New York to find his dad and all the madcap fun that it entails, and it is family-friendly so that is also a boon at the holidays.”
She adds that performances will be in-house as well as online. “Like everything else this year, it has taught us to be innovative and flexible and we’re forging new territory for SCT, which is exciting and a little bit scary, but we are going to be streaming our performance on the first weekend, so December 4-6 we’ll be streaming. We also will be offering in-house seating at a very limited number for those who would prefer to join in person. Also, we’re going to be using digital projection for this show rather than just stagnant set pieces which is also extremely exciting for us.”
