(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake police have released information into a motorcycle accident that happened Thanksgiving Day.
Police say Kevin Loewenberg of Spirit Lake was operating a 2011 Harley Davidson in the 500 block of Hill Avenue at a high rate of speed. Officers say Loewenberg lost control of the motorcycle, which struck a light pole. Police say it then skidded along a sidewalk and collided with a concrete retaining wall in a yard at 544 Hill Avenue. Witnesses estimated the motorcycle was traveling at 60 to 70 mph at the time of the crash.
Loewenberg was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare.
Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $8,000.
The mishap took place a little after 12:30 pm.
