(Spencer)– The annual Service of Remembrance sponsored by Hospice of Spencer Hospital, Abben Cancer Center, Warner Funeral Home, Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation and area clergy will be held virtually this year. Susan Zulk, Vice President of Marketing and Fund Development at Spencer Hospital, says the annual event is a special time to celebrate the lives of loved ones we have lost over the past year and honor their memories…
“We’ll have a message by Pastor Deb Mechler who is the spiritual director for hospice at Spencer Hospital, and we also have a slide show that Warner Funeral Home has put together that has, it’s a remembrance for people who have passed away this year. A really nice way for people to honor a loved one and think about them in the holiday season. We encourage people, if they’d like to, because when we’re in person we have a candle light ceremony and people light a candle in memory of their loved one, have a candle at home while you’re watching the service and be prepared to light it. We’ll have special music and they will be familiar hymns, so if people want to sing along, they can. Sara Taylor, who is our director of Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation here at Spencer Hospital, actually is our vocalist and so Sara has done a really nice job of putting the music together, and she’s accompanied by Ray Meyer who is a pianist and very active at Hope Reformed Church, and then Robin Key who is our music therapist, and she is a cellist. She also plays during the service.”
The service will be aired on Spencer Municipal Utilities’ channel 2 at 6:30 pm Monday, November 30th and will be available on Spencer Hospital’s website and Facebook page, as well as Warner Funeral Home’s website and Facebook page. SMU will rebroadcast the service Tuesday, December 1st at 3:00 pm and Wednesday, December 2nd at 11:00 am.
