Hy-Vee Voluntarily Recalling Two Short Cuts Vegetable Mix Products

November 24, 2020

(West Des Moines)– West Des Moines-based Hy-Vee announced Tuesday it is voluntarily recalling two of its Short Cuts vegetable mix products across its eight state region due to a possible bacterial contamination.

The company says the potential contamination was discovered during routine sampling, and that so far, no illnesses have been reported with the products.

Officials say the bacteria, listeria monocytogenes, can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled items include Hy-Vee Short Cuts Pot Roast Mix with a UPC Code of 0272083305352, and Hy-Vee Short Cuts Grill/Oven Ready Veggie Mix with a UPC Code of 0272104105992. All of the affected products have a “Best if Used By” date of Dec. 3, 2020.

Customers who purchased any of the products with those dates should not consume them. The items should be discarded or returned to your local Hy-Vee store for a full refund.
