Buena Vista University Announces New President

(Storm Lake)– Buena University in Storm Lake has a new leader.

It was announced today (Mon.) Dr. Brian Lenzmeier has been selected to serve as President effective immediately. He’s already been serving in that position on an interim basis.

Lenzmeier joined BVU in 2003 as a Biology professor.

He is a native of Willmar, Minnesota and earned his Ph.D in biochemistry from Colorado State University. Lenzmeier completed post-doctoral research in molecular biology at Princeton University. He was the 2009 recipient of the George Wythe Award for excellence in teaching. Lenzmeier used the stipend from the award to support a sabbatical as a research fellow in molecular medicine at the Mayo Clinic in 2003.

Dr. Lenzmeier also helped establish the Undergraduate Rural Medicine Education and Development Program at BVU which is now in its 12th year.
