Dickinson County Hunger Coalition to distribute hundreds of food box as part of the USDA’s Farmers to Families Program

The Dickinson County Hunger Coalition will be distributing food boxes and gallons of milk on Saturday, October 31.

Chair Angela Kofoot says it’s part of the USDA’s Farmers to Families Program.  “This is the 3rd round of funding that they’ve put out and it’s for the purchase and distribution of different agricultural products to people throughout the United States.  the first two rounds really succeeded in doing exactly what it was intended to do, which was supply fresh produce to Americans while also helping distributors and farmers who have been significantly impacted by the closure of restaurants and hotels and other businesses.”

She adds that the food will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis.  “So, the Dickinson County Hunger Coalition arranged to have a semi full of food brought up.  We talked Spencer into taking half of that.  We will have 520 boxes of food available, 520 gallon jugs of milk.  It’s at the Dickinson County Expo Center.  If you would enter on 15th Street on that Southwest entrance, we’ll have you line up and at 1 o’clock, we’ll start handing out food.  First-come, first served, rain or shine.”

The program is open to all residents of Dickinson County. A similar program will be held in Spencer on Sunday, November 1.

NOTE:  The Clay County Event will be held at the Jaycees Building on the Clay County Fairgrounds starting at 1 pm on November 1.  Enter from 18th Street in Spencer.
