Rapid Antigen Testing For COVID-19 Now Being Made Available To Preschool Through 12th Grade Students In Clay County

October 22, 2020

(Spencer)– Rapid antigen testing for COVID-19 is now being made available to preschool through 12th grade students attending public or private schools in Clay county.

Public health officials say the testing is being made available to those students showing signs and symptoms consistent with the virus and are seven days or less from the start of those symptoms. They say the test is NOT recommended for students who may have been exposed to the virus but do not have symptoms.

Health officials say the testing can be accessed by reporting a child’s illness to their school or by visiting a local healthcare provider. In each case an assessment will be made and depending on the circumstance, either a school nurse or school appointed official, or in the latter case a physician, may direct the student to Spencer Hospital for a free test.
