(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake man accused in a hit-and-run boat collision this past summer on West Lake Okoboji is scheduled to go on trial November 10th in Dickinson County District Court.
20-year-old Zachary Kruse was charged with failure to provide aid at the scene of the crash. He recently pled not guilty to the charge.
Authorities say Kruse was operating a boat August 4th just off Manhattan Point that collided with another craft operating by 52-year-old Vaughn Wickman of Spirit Lake. Wickman was injured in the crash. They say Kruse fled the scene immediately following the crash. DNR Enforcement Officers were able to get a description of the suspect boat and, with the public’s assistance, located it in a hoist a few days later. Kruse then turned himself in.
