(Storm Lake)– The cause of the fire that burned the Oasis Night Club in Storm Lake has been determined.
Test results, combined with other elements of the investigation, has determined the fire was intentionally set.
Samples were removed from the floor of the stage where the fire is believed to have started and were taken to the State Crime Lab to be evaluated. Gasoline was found to be present in the samples tested.
Firefighters responded to the fire late in the night on August 8th. They were met with heavy smoke as they entered the structure with thermal imaging equipment and located the fire burning in the area of the stage at the east end of the building.
The fire was investigated the following morning by the Storm Lake Fire Department assisted by the State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Storm Lake Police Department.
The Oasis Night Club will not be reopening due to the extent of the damage.
Anyone who may have any information about the fire is asked to call the Storm Lake Police Department.
