August 28, 2020

(Spencer)– An investigation into reports of vandalism at the Spencer City Hall and a residence in the 1500 block of Fairview Avenue in Spencer has resulted in the arrest of a Spencer man.

Police say multiple cars and garage doors were spray painted with graffiti.

A suspect in the case, 41-year-old Jeremy Starkson of Spencer, was arrested Thursday at his residence.

Police obtained and executed a search warrant on Starkson’s residence, which resulted in them finding items related to the vandalism incidents.

Starkson was booked into the Clay county jail on charges of criminal mischief in the 2nd and 3rd degree; criminal trespass and harassment of a police officer or public official.

Police say damage to some vehicles parked at City Hall was estimated at $1,200 while damage to the residence was put at about $2,500.
