ISU Extension offering “Stress on the Farm: Strategies that Help” Programs starting August 28

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering 10 online ‘Stress on the Farm: Strategies that Help’ programs starting August 28.

Behavioral Health Specialist David Brown explains.  “It’s kind of a trying time right now, the ongoing pandemic, we had the Derecho winds that went through, we also have drought in parts of Iowa, as well, so we know the farmers are pretty stressed right now.  So, we have rolled out a program to help farmers with a little bit of information about what are the signs of stress, what they can do about it, but also, if they see signs of stress with a friend or family member, we give them a few steps on how they may able to help them as well because, it’s also important for us to watch over each other during this difficult time.”

He adds that the free programs are offered online.  “It’s all virtual.  People can go online and then register, it’s at no cost.  We certainly welcome people popping in for the half hour, getting a little bit of information and hopefully using the information to help themselves and maybe even help others.”
