Some More Fake Money Reportedly Making The Rounds In NW Iowa

August 24, 2020

(Orange City– Some more fake money is reportedly making the rounds in northwest Iowa. Authorities in Sioux county say they’ve received reports of counterfeit money with pink Chinese letters that’s been circulating in the region. They say Chinese bank clerks use it to learn how to count and identify authentic American currency passed or exchanged by business and leisure travelers in China.

The counterfeit money can be purchased in denominations of five, 10, 50 and 100 dollars bills. Authorities say the paper is lighter and has a smoother texture than authentic bills.

They add it is not illegal to possess counterfeit money but it is illegal to attempt to purchase items with it.
