(Undated)– You can expect to see an increased presence of law enforcement on Iowa roads now through September 7th. Agencies throughout the region are involved in the 2020 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign through the Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
Officials say the Labor Day holiday weekend is one of the deadliest times of the year for drunk driving fatalities. Last year, they say there were 439 traffic fatalities nationwide and that more than a third of those involved drunk drivers.
In addition to drunk drivers, officials say they’ll be looking for drivers with other impairments as well as those who are distracted, along with enforcing other serious traffic violations.
