Pearson Lakes Art Center to open Ginny Butcher Exhibit August 20

The Pearson Lakes Art Center will open a new exhibit, An Artist’s View of the Barnyard, with works by Ginny Butcher on August 20.

Visual Arts Director Danielle Clouse Gast explains.  “It’s kind of a plein air approach.  Plein air, is painting in the outdoors, so it is a looser style, very full of color, and these are also small paintings.  They’re portraits of barnyard animals, goats, cows, chickens, pigs, so the viewers will have a lot of animal portraits to see in this show.”

She notes that another current exhibit features the work of Bev Pearson“We have the Pearson Art Foundation Collection that we care for here at the Arts Center, and Bev is actually an artist herself.  She brought in her watercolor paintings, and we kind of used that as a jumping off point for this exhibit that’s in the Monte Pearson Gallery.  So, basically it features her work, and then we went down to the vault and pulled things to play off of her pieces in the show.  So, the show is called The Collector Artist, and so we’re pulling like a Norman Rockwell to put alongside one of her paintings, or  N.C, Wyeth, and how it plays off of Bev’s watercolors.  This is truly a unique show, and we’re excited to share Bev’s work at the Art Center.”

The Pearson Lakes Art Center is open, with masks and social distancing encouraged.
