Several Airports In The Region Awarded Funding For Various Projects

(Ames)– Several airports in the region were awarded funding for various projects through the 2021 State Aviation Program that was approved Monday by Iowa Department of Transportation Commissioners.

The Algona Airport will receive $51,000 to pave a hangar approach along with an additional $150,000 to construct a two-stall hangar extension; the Spencer Airport was awarded $70,000 for a rehabilitation of the terminal building, which has a total estimated cost of $140,000; the Cherokee County Regional Airport will receive $22,500 to replace a bi-fold door on a hangar; the Rock Rapids Airport was awarded $49,500 for a hangar rehabilitation project; and the Sioux County Regional Airport will be getting $150,000 to construct an addition to house snow removal equipment.

The funding is through the state’s Aviation Improvement Program.
