The Okoboji Foundation has announced that applications are now being accepted for the Youth in Philanthropy Initiative.

Interim President Holly Skopec says the program helps students understand grants and nonprofit entities.  “The Okoboji Foundation Youth in Philanthropy Initiative is our annual program for area high school students.  We’re empowering them to make lasting, positive impact in our Lakes community.  We teach them how to read and score grants that come into the Okoboji Foundation, and we take them on nonprofit tour visits to area nonprofits to see how they function and how they fund raise.”

She adds that all area students are eligible to apply.  “All area high school students can apply, and the application is available on our website at okobojifoundation.org. and they can click on the youth tab.  Applications are being accepted through September 10th.”

Up to 25 students are selected annually for the program.
