Northwest Iowa Planning & Development Commission Awarded $400,000 Through Federal CARES Act

(Spencer)– It was announced today (Thurs.) the Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission has been awarded $400,000 in funding through the federal CARES Act.

The agency plans to use the funds to help in its regional response to the pandemic by developing strategies to boost the region’s tourism economy; to develop a new comprehensive economic development strategy to assist local business and industry; to implement strategies to grow the region’s critical manufacturing sector; and to support workforce training.

The U.S. Commerce Administration’s Economic Development Administration announced it’s awarding $4.2 million in CARES Act grants to 11 economic development district organizations across Iowa.
