(Spirit Lake)– If you haven’t filled out your census form yet you can expect a knock on your door very soon. Dickinson county remains last in the state of Iowa when it comes to the rate of return for the 2020 census. And Mo Schriner of the U.S. Census Bureau for the Iowa and Minnesota bureau says they have now entered the “non-response follow-up phase”…
Linda Rhineart of the U.S. Census Bureau adds the deadline to get the follow-ups completed has also been pushed up…
As we reported previously, the biggest issue in the lack of response from Dickinson county has been with seasonal homes, which Schriner says must also be counted.
Rhineart and Schriner updated the Board of Supervisors on the issue at their meeting today (Tues.). They along with Supervisor Pam Jordan will put together a proposal to try to increase the county’s response rate which will be presented to the supervisors at their meeting next week.
