The Spirit Lake Chamber will hold their Hometown Heroes event on Wednesday evening at Spirit Lake High School.

Nancy Vierkant Director of Membership and Events explains.  “It’s a way for us to have our community really recognize how many heroes we have in our community.  They can be people like your ambulance and fire department and police department that we think of every day, but even more than that, we’ve got some great options for dentists, and the new doctor will be there, and there’s some great experiences that our other businesses are bringing into that area.  So, just being able to really see all of the fantastic services and businesses that our community has to offer.”

She adds that the event will include a meal.  “Kiwanis will be coming to grill for us, and we’ll be serving hot dogs, chips, cookie and a water for a free will donation, and we will be serving up to 200 people.”

Vierkant notes that masks and distancing are encouraged.  “We are encouraging all of the community to wear masks and we will be having all of the businesses that are there in masks as well.  There will be plenty of area, by utilizing that green space as well as the parking lot, we should be able to get those businesses spread out that people will be able to feel comfortable being outside and being socially distant.”

The Hometown Heroes event will run from 5-7 Wednesday evening.
