(Spirit Lake)– Some exciting news today (Thurs.) from the YMCA of the Okoboji’s. CEO Andrew Fisher says they were able to exceed a $100,000 donation match made by the Mueske Family Foundation…
“We’re so grateful for our community and our donors for answering that challenge and exceeding the goal that they had put out there for $100,000. Our final total for the month of July was just under $125,000 and the Mueske Family Foundation did come back and say they’d be willing to match all of it, and so we’re exceedingly grateful from the YMCA and Camp Foster for nearly $250,000 of funds coming into the organization at a critical time of need for us with just all of the changes that COVID has forced upon our organization and we just, it goes to show the support our community has not only for us but for the things that makes the great lakes a special place to be.”
Fisher says the funds will allow them to sustain their current level of programming and operations. But he says the need for financial resources is ongoing for the organization which has been hard hit by the pandemic…
“Any way that anybody has interest in supporting Camp Foster or the YMCA organization, we’re welcome to those opportunities and it’s been really inspiring to see what the match has done in terms of generating conversations about the long term sustainability of the YMCA and Camp Foster as well as just the overall community support for the organization.”
