(Arnolds Park)-Registration is about to get underway for the U of O Oktoberfest, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The University of Okoboji 29th Annual University of Okoboji Oktoberfest is slated for September 26.
Kylie Zankowski, Director of Membership and Events with the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce says, the schedule includes a full day of festivities. “We’re really looking forward to Saturday, September 26th, it seems kind of far away, but we’re getting really close, it’s only 2 months away. It will be the 29th year for the bike ride, but every year the festival gets a little larger and we add different events. So, we’re looking forward to another great year like last year filled with sunshine, enjoying the great outdoors in Okoboji in the fall, filled with the Keg Toss Competition, Stein Holding Competition, there’s inflatables and yard games for kids. Different Amusement Park rides come out, it’s really just a fun fall festival with an Oktoberfest feel.”
She notes that registration for the bike ride opens on Saturday, August 1. “You can either head over to our facebook page or check out the website to get all sorts of information there, but if you register now, you’re locked in at that price, but then when you get a little closer to the event, it goes up $5. So, your registration includes the bike ride, shirt and a drink ticket, and it’s an awesome, scenic route around the lake, you come back, and get to enjoy all sorts of different fall activities in the Green Space.”
The day will conclude with live music by Shirts & Skins.
