Clay County Disaster Recovery Fund Announces Additional Donors & Grant Awards

July 16, 2020

(Spencer)– The Clay County Community Foundation has announced some additional businesses have donated funds to their Disaster Recovery Fund that helps residents and organizations being negatively impacted by the pandemic.

Connie Goeken of the Clay County Community Foundation says the latest businesses to contribute are the Royal Telephone Company and Home State Bank…both of Royal.

To date, Goeken says they’ve distributed five grants through the Clay County Disaster Recovery Fund…Goeken03

“The first one of course was the pork loin distribution throughout the county where we partnered with the Spencer Chamber Foundation and other Spencer businesses to give out about 11,000 pounds of pork to every community in the county and we also helped our local nursing homes with needs they’ve had dealing with the Covid virus…purchasing trays, and I-pads to be used in virtual doctor visits and communicating with family; and we helped the CAASA organization get back open again for business by helping them purchase PPE items they needed to keep their staff and their clients safe; and then our most recent grant was to the Spencer Hospital. We provided the funds for material to make 500 face masks that they are making available to patients who come into the hospital and their clinics.”

Goeken adds any business or individual who would like to donate to the Clay County Disaster Recovery Fund may do so online at cccovidrelief.org. Checks may also be sent to the Clay County Disaster Recovery Fund at P.O. Box 7952, Spencer, Iowa…51301.
