(Estherville)-The deadline to apply for the Last Dollar Scholarship Program has been extended, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The deadline to apply for The Last Dollar Scholarship Program in Iowa has been extended to August 1.
Steve Pelzer, Financial Aid Director at Iowa lakes Community College says, the program encourages enrollment in high demand career and technical programs. “That’s what the program is designed for, is to get students in jobs that are needed by the State. What it does, it covers what’s leftover after any state or federal grants have been applied to the student’s account.”
He adds that the application for FAFSA must be completed by August 1. “First of all, they have to meet the requirements of being a State of Iowa resident, they have to be in one of the eligible programs, and then they have to fill out a FASFA by August 1st. That’s the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and what that does is it’s how you apply for any federal and/or state aid.”
