(Graettinger)– Crews from two area fire departments battled a blaze Tuesday evening at the former Northern Plains Regional Landfill near Graettinger.
Firefighters from Graettinger and Emmetsburg were called to the scene around 5:30 pm after getting a report that one of the cells was on fire.
It took them a couple of hours to extinguish the fire, with assistance from workers at the landfill.
There was no word on a possible cause.
No injuries were reported.
The city of Spencer currently owns the landfill.
