A Special Event July 25th Will Honor The Late Berkley Bedell

July 14, 2020

(Arnolds Park)– A boat parade will be held Saturday, July 25th to honor the late Berkley Bedell.

Organizers say the parade will begin at 6:00 pm that evening with boats gathering on West Lake Okoboji in front of the Arnolds Park Amusement Park. The Queen II will lead the parade, followed by boats with Berkley’s family members on board.

The parade will proceed to Pillsbury Point and Terrace Park, then circle the Emmerson Bay area before crossing from Gull Point to Manhattan Beach, following the west shoreline to the north end of the lake. The parade will return following the east shoreline, concluding at Arnolds Park Amusement Park.

Community members are invited to participate in the event.

There will also be a short memorial service that will be broadcast live on KUOO and video streamed on the Explore Okoboji Facebook page.

Berkley passed away in Naples, Florida on December 7th, 2019. A memorial service had been planned for July 25th in Spirit Lake but was canceled due to the pandemic.
