(Spencer)– The skate park in Spencer has been closed until further notice.
In a letter to residents posted on the city’s Facebook Page, Jared Elbert, the city’s Recreation Director, says an abundance of littering and vandalism over the last several weeks has resulted in the skate park being closed effective today (Mon.) and continuing until further notice.
Elbert says the city’s Parks and Recreation Department takes great pride in keeping Spencer’s parks and recreational facilities clean and well maintained for public use. He adds it’s up to the users to exercise responsibility and to treat those areas with respect.
The letter goes on to say the skate park may be reopened some time in the future, however that if the problem happens again, they say they won’t hesitate to permanently close it.
