Estherville Police Say They’re Getting Numerous Complaints Of Fireworks Being Illegally Discharged In That City

July 01, 2020

(Estherville)– Police in Estherville say they’re getting numerous complaints about fireworks being illegally discharged in that city.

The department is reminding residents that even though the state of Iowa passed a law allowing fireworks a few years ago, the city of Estherville has an ordinance that requires anyone shooting fireworks in the city to have a permit. The permit must be obtained through City Hall and has to be approved by the City Council before it becomes valid. City officials say the last City Council meeting in order to get a permit approved was June 16th.

Estherville police say anyone caught discharging fireworks in the city without a permit will be cited with a violation of the city code and will face a fine and confiscation of fireworks.
