No Injuries Reported In Spencer House Fire (1)

May 28, 2020

(Spencer)– No injuries were reported Wednesday in a house fire in Spencer.

Deputy Spencer Fire Chief Mark Stover says firefighters were called around 2:30 pm to 307 East 4th Street. Upon arriving he says they found smoke visible from the exterior of the home. Stover says firefighters forced entry into the residence and encountered high heat and a lot of smoke. He says the main source of the fire was located in the kitchen and was extinguished.

The home sustained heavy fire damage from the kitchen up to the second floor with smoke damage throughout the remainder.

Stover says the homeowner was gone at the time and that the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters were on the scene about three and-a-half hours.

The Everly Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist with manpower and an ambulance stood by as a precaution.
