(Superior)– An Estherville man has died of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision Saturday night in Dickinson county.
The Sheriff’s Office says 46-year-old Luis Lopez-Carabello of Estherville was driving a 2500 Chevrolet Express van pulling a trailer northbound in the 1700 block of County Road N-14. Authorities say the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound 2019 Ford pickup driven by 30-year-old Shane Gailey of Fort Dodge.
The van and trailer rolled, coming to rest blocking the roadway; the pickup driven by Gailey came to rest in the east ditch.
Lopez-Carabello was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Officials say he died of those injuries Monday. Gailey complained of pain but wasn’t taken to a hospital.
Both vehicles were totaled.
Authorities say the collision is under investigation.
The collision took place around 11:14 pm Saturday.
