(Johnston)– The Iowa Department of Public Health today (Thurs.) reported 302 new positive cases of COVID-19 bringing the total caseload so far to 7,145 with 14 additional deaths. That’s the highest number of deaths for a single day so far.

“That’s why again as I said we have the Test Iowa located at the State Hygienic Lab. We’re working with a team that is very qualified that have been doing the PCR, the serology testing for a long, long time. There’s a lot of expertise in that lab. And that’s why they’re taking the time that they are to make sure that they’re validating the process so that we can assure Iowans that the results that they’re receiving are accurate. And so they’re in that process right now. We’re still ramping up and I feel confident that we’ll be able to demonstrate that to Iowans.”

Sara Reisetter, Deputy Director of the Iowa Department of Public Health, said today (Thursday) Test Iowa results will be lumped in with results currently being reported adding that they will not be separated out.
