Minnesota COVID-19 Numbers Continue To Grow As Statewide Testing Increases Dramatically

(St. Paul, Mn.)– For the second day in a row, Minnesota has seen a defined increase in testing and a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases. The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting a new single day high of 492 positive cases yesterday, bringing the state’s total to 5,136. Nobles County saw an increase of 127 new cases, bringing their total to 742. Jackson County is up 2 to 14 positive cases, Martin County increased by 18 to 88 and Cottonwood County held at 20.

The number of deaths statewide has increased by 24 to 343. There are still 8 counties in Minnesota that have not reported a positive case.

Yesterday marked the largest day of testing in the state with 3,279 tests completed bringing the state total to just over 70,000. Total requiring hospitalization is now at 1,044, with 365 of those still in the hospital. The number in ICU increased 11 to 130. 2,172 patients in Minnesota no longer need to be isolated.
