(Everly)– A collision early this (Tues.) afternoon on Highway 18 just east of the Clay-O’Brien county line claimed the life of a Milford woman.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report of a reckless driver that was all over the road west of Everly. A short time later the agency says it received a report of a personal injury accident at the intersection of 100th Avenue and Highway 18.
Upon arriving authorities determined 35-year-old Eric Meighan of Ruthven was driving a 2019 Peterbilt semi eastbound on Highway 18 and Lori Hott of Milford was driving a 2012 Toyota Camry westbound. Deputies say Hott’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with the semi.
Hott was pronounced dead at the scene; no injuries were reported to Meighan.
Both the car and semi were totaled.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Everly Fire and Rescue and the Spencer Hospital ambulance.
