(Des Moines)– The Iowa Attorney General’s Office is taking legal action against a northwest Iowa man accusing him of price gouging during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Michael Noteboom of Orange City is accused of charging excessive prices on more than 250 items on eBay, including toilet paper, paper towels and disinfecting and sanitizing products.
The lawsuit, filed on Friday, seeks an injunction to stop the sale of the merchandise and seeks consumer restitution and civil penalties.
The Consumer Protection Division of the Iowa Attorney General’s Office says it has received 470 reports of price gouging during the pandemic, including 285 formal complaints that have been filed and are being investigated.
