(Spencer)– Another major event in the area has fallen victim to COVID-19 concerns.
The Spencer Chamber of Commerce announced today (Thursday) it’s cancelling this year’s Flagfest celebration. This year’s event was scheduled for June 12th-14th.
Chamber officials say the cancellation was based on advice from local health officials, as well as recommendations by Governor Kim Reynolds, the Spencer Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Flagfest planning committee.
The cancellation includes all activities related to Flagfest, including the parade, river float, and The Chill.
Committee members say they’re working on a few events that will meet social distancing guidelines. They say the events, dubbed “Spencer Together”, will be introduced in May.
