(Windom, Mn.)– Windom Area Health has announced plans to start a limited curbside testing program for COVID-19.
Officials say the testing will begin as early as this Thursday or Friday and will be done in the main parking lot on the hospital campus in Windom.
The hospital says the screening for now will be limited to certain populations in the community and will NOT be immediately available to the public. Shelby Medina, Windom Area Health CEO, says its critical they start testing certain populations in the community. She says community members not contacted for curbside testing should seek care through their primary care provider or emergency room if their experiencing severe symptoms of COVID-19.
Medina says those being screened will need to call ahead. She says patients will remain in their car for the duration of the screening process and that a nasal swab will be performed if it’s deemed necessary. Medina says it will take 24 to 48 hours to get test results back.
