Dickinson Co. Supervisors Hear Update On Joint Recycling Program With Several Cities

April 21, 2020

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors today (Tues.) heard an update on a joint recycling program being conducted with several cities in the county. Supervisor Kim Wermersen…City-County Recycling

“We’ve partnered with Lake Park, Orleans, Arnolds Park, Terril and Superior to use their recycling sites as drop-off spots for recycling. We still encourage everyone to use curbside pickup if that’s available to you. If it is not and you’re getting garbage pick up we encourage everybody to talk to them about what it takes to also add recycling. And this is for residential use, it’s not for commercial use. We will re-evaluate this periodically to make sure that it’s working for the both the cities and the county.”

Wermersen thanked the cities who are working with the county on the program.

The new arrangements were forged after some cities discontinued public recyling drop-off sites. It left some residents in the unincorporated areas of the county without a place to take their recyclable items.
