(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake School Board Monday evening approved proposals for architectural and engineering services for the bus barn project.
The total cost of the proposals is $22,100. Plans call for a bidletting on the bus barn project in June with construction starting in August.
The bus barn project was split off from facility improvements which will soon be getting underway at the Elementary, Middle, High School and district office.
The board also Monday evening discussed issues related to COVID-19. Superintendent Dr. David Smith said they hope to know more what the rest of the school year may look like once Governor Kim Reynolds releases more information. He said they’re expecting to get that in coming days…
“There will be more information sent out and more decisions will be made at that point so we’ll try to get everybody communications as soon as possible but we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. People have been terrific to work with. Our teachers continue to do a terrific job, continue to have lots of positive communications from parents. It’s not a terrific system by any means but I think everybody’s doing a terrific job with what we’re dealt so I appreciate all our people.”
Board members were also updated on the recent distribution of laptop computers to facilitate at home learning, along with an upcoming distribution of I-pads.
