Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation expressing Gratitude for Donations

April 08, 2020

(Spencer)-The Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation is expressing their gratitude for an outpouring of support to donate supplies for the Spencer Hospital and medical community.

Vice President of Marketing and Fund Development Susan Zulk explains.  “I think we find that in any crisis situation and particularly in rural Iowa when something happens, people respond with what can I do to help, and we’re experiencing just that.  We’ve had multiple businesses, and there’s individuals, and we’ve had farmers and agribusinesses say, what can we do to help you, and many of them in their businesses or farms, they have some personal protective equipment, things like masks, some respirators, gloves and gowns and things like that.  So, we’ve had some wonderful donations, and they’re all very much appreciated.”

She adds that the need continues, and those wanting to donate items can reach Director Mindy Gress.  “The plan is to be prepared for whatever may happen, and so we are still accepting donations.  Mindy Gress is our Director of the Foundation, and Mindy is the person who is kind of spearheading our collections, that way she can log that and make sure that people are appropriately thanked for their contributions, as well.  She can be reached at Spencer Hospital, or her email would work really well, send to giving@spencerhospital.org

Zulk notes that community members are also making cloth masks and gowns at this time, and says that one way everybody can help is by following recommended guidelines:.  “Masks are welcome and also just recently, the Iowa Department of Public Health has a pattern available for making gowns, as well.  The number one is, protect yourself, stay home if you can, minimal contact and mind all those rules of social distancing.”
