(Spirit Lake)-Lakes Regional Healthcare is urging residents who are returning to the Iowa Great Lakes from their winter homes to self-isolate for 14 days.
CEO Jason Harrington urges those returning to self isolate for two weeks:
“With the warm weather and the ice being out, we all get very excited about all that we love about the Iowa Great Lakes. Many of you are returning from your winter home, and others are very excited about opening their lake homes. Normally this would be a time for celebration, however, these are not normal times. Although we are happy to have our summer neighbors returning home, we ask you to remain in your home for 14 days after your return in case you may have be inadvertently exposed to the COVID-19 virus and may be contagious to others. It takes up to 14 days for symptoms to appear after exposure, which is why staying home at this time is critically important. The 14 days of self-isolation begin the day after you arrive home. If you have symptoms of a new cough, fever, or shortness of breath, please call Lakes Regional Healthcare COVID-19 Hotline at 712-336-6696 for a phone assessment. If you need groceries or self medication while you are self-isolating, a volunteer can pick up and bring them to your home. You can find this by visiting iglcoronarelief.org for more information. Thank you for keeping us all healthy and safe by isolating for your first 14 full days home, and welcome back to the Iowa Great Lakes.”
