Both Iowa & Minnesota Reporting Continued Increases In COVID-19 Cases Today (Fri.)

(Des Moines)– The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting today (Fri.) an additional 85 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state, for a total of 699 positive cases since the outbreak started. The agency says there have been a total of 8,764 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.

Several of the new cases that were reported today (Fri.) are from northwest Iowa, including one middle-aged adult from Lyon county; a middle-aged adult from O’Brien county; an adult from Plymouth county; and an older adult from Sioux county.

In Minnesota, the total number of positive cases since the pandemic started stood at 789 as of this (Fri.) morning. The total number of cases requiring hospitalization was at 156, with 86 hospitalized as of today (Fri.) and 40 of those in intensive care units. The death toll in Minnesota as of this (Fri.) morning stood at 22.

As far as southwest Minnesota is concerned, Martin county remains the hot spot with a total of 32 cases reported as of this (Fri.) morning. There has been one positive case so far in Jackson county, five in Cottonwood county and three in Watonwan county.
