(Hartley)– A local ethanol plant is now producing hand sanitizer.
Valero Industries says it’s plant in Hartley started producing the substance Thursday.
Company officials say they received regulatory approval from the Food and Drug Administration and are now bulk producing hand sanitizer for local hospitals, emergency responders and other organizations at the front line of battling the coronavirus outbreak.
Offiials with Valero Industries say they’re evaluating similar production at other ethanol plants the company operates.
