(Jackson, Mn.)– The Jackson City Council met in special session last (Monday) night and declared a Local Emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic and adopted a Pandemic Continuity of Operations Plan.
The Council also approved an Emergency Assistance Loan Program developed by the Finance Committee and Revolving Loan Fund Committee. City Administrator Matt Skaret outlines what the loan program entails…
“$15,000 per business that was directly affected by the Governor’s Executive Order 20-04, zero percent interest, payments deferred for 180 days after the execution of the loan agreement and then types of things that are eligible to be counted in that $15,000 are utility bills, vendors, payroll expenses, rent, mortgage, those types of costs that don’t go away when you’re closed down.”
The Council also appropriated an additions $35,000 to help support, promote and assist Jackson Downtown Businesses during the Pandemic.
In other action, the council approved suspending disconnections for the month of April, and will revisit at their April 21st meeting. They also tabled discussion on waiving late fees until that meeting.
Hours at the Jackson Liquor store were changed to noon to 7pm Monday-Friday with curbside pickup only.
The meeting lasted around 40 minutes.
