Head On Crash On Hwy 9 Injures Worthington Woman

February 28, 2020

(Sibley)– A head-on collision Thursday on Highway 9 near the intersection with Highway 60 injured a Worthington woman.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 65-year-old Leroy Hassebroek of Little Rock was driving a 2017 Ram westbound when he crossed the center line and collided head on with a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse driven by 59-year-old Rachel Leiting of Worthington.

Leiting had to be extricated from her vehicle by Sibley Fire and Rescue and was taken by ambulance to Osceola Regional Health Center. No injuries were reported to Hassebroek, who was cited for driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway.

Damage to the Ram driven by Hassebroek was estimated at $25,000 while the Traverse driven by Leiting sustained an estimated $20,000 in damage.

The collision took place shortly before 1:00 pm.
