Dickinson County Nature Center and RSVP teaming up for Special Volunteer Appreciation Day March 2

February 27, 2020

(Okoboji)-A special Volunteer Appreciation Day is on tap this coming Monday.  KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has the story:

Dickinson County Nature Center and RSVP teaming up for Special Volunteer Appreciation Day March 2

The Dickinson County Nature Center along with Dickinson County RSVP will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation day on March 2.

Community Relations Coordinator Kiley Roth explains. “Volunteer Appreciation Day is actually something that we do every month.  It’s just a way that we can connect with the groups of our volunteers and train them.  We do it the first Monday of the month for all of our current volunteers, but we’re doing a special one in March with RSVP, which is the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  Basically trying to recruit some new volunteers for the Dickinson County Nature Center because of our new Pollinator Paradise addition, we just need a little bit more help here.”

She adds that volunteers provide a variety of services.  “Whether that be somebody who works at the front desk and helps answer the phone and get people registered for some of our free programs, greats visitors, or somebody who talks with visitors, explains some of our exhibits.  We have some great opportunities here at the Nature Center that we’re looking to add volunteers for, and so, this partnership with RSVP for a fun morning.  We’ll just kind of give some information about the Nature Center, what we’re looking for, and then, of course, we always have yummy breakfast and coffee and things like that.”

Volunteer Appreciation Day will be held at the Nature Center at 10 am on Monday and is free and open to anyone wishing to learn about volunteer opportunities.
