(Spirit Lake)-The 9th Annual Get Up & bowl for Special Olympics will be held on March 1 at Corner lanes in Spirit Lake. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has the story:
Organizer Nancy Vierkant says teams can still register to participate. “Teams up to six people and you can have an athlete bowl with you if you would like. It’s $150 and includes a pizza and a whole lot of fun for 90 minutes of bowling. We do have 4 time slots where people come and bowl. Our 11 o’clock time slot still has a lot of openings yet.”
She adds that the public is invited to stop by to bid on the silent auction. “We have tremendous support from our community, they have donated generously between gift cards and services, gift baskets and hand crafted items. There literally is something for everyone at the silent auction. It is open to everyone, there’s no cost to get in, so we really want to encourage the public, even if you don’t want to come out and bowl, or maybe you just want to watch the bowling for a little while, come out for the silent auction, because those are all proceeds that are staying right here local for our Special Olympics teams.”
