Iowa DNR To Host Input Meeting On Hunting Rules, Regs.

February 24, 2020

(Okoboji)– Another reminder of a public input meeting the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be holding tomorrow (Tues.) evening at the Dickinson County Nature Center. Chris LaRue, a DNR Wildlife Biologist, says it’s intended primarily for hunters and trappers…Chris LaRue01

“The meeting is, you know, set up for the public, you know, to come out and express some interest and we do a review of the previous seasons and kind of updates on several different species, things of that nature. And what we’d like is to, you know, get comments and feedback from the public on, you know, maybe what they like, if they have comments on something they dislike, and of course we look through compiling those and later they’re, you know, presented to our Natural Resource Commission as we go through our rule making process going into the next season.”

LaRue says it’s one in a series of meetings they’ve been holding in other parts of the state. He says the meetings replace the one night listening sessions held simultaneously statewide over the past 15 years…Chris LaRue02

“Historically for years we did the old ICN meetings at locations across the state and, you know, this is the same thing. It’s just that instead of doing this on the ICN network it’s now kind of more an open public meeting, and again we’d like to have folks come in and give comments and recommendations on programs and things associated with the hunting seasons. We would certainly take those in and visit with them on any other topics they’d like to discuss, too.”

The meeting tomorrow (Tues.) evening begins at 6:30 pm at the Dickinson County Nature Center. It will be conducted in a town hall type format.
