Area Farmers To Converge On Spencer For 2020 Ag Outlook

February 17, 2020

(Spencer)– Another reminder of Ag Outlook coming up tomorrow (Tues.) at the Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer. Sam Harper of the Spencer Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee says things get underway with coffee and donut holes being served at 8:00 am, followed by a special event in the Events Center Ballroom…Sam Harper01

“At 9:20 we will have a welcome and our 2020 Ag Outlook Appreciation Award in the ballroom. In the meantime, out on the vendor floor, all of our vendors, we’ll have over a hundred vendors again this year, ranging from large equipment dealers down to brokerages, banks and all those types of ag-related businesses. At 9:30, Darin Newsome, a market columnist and technical market analyst from Market Outlook will be our speaker in the ballroom. We’ll have some prize drawings and door prizes throughout the day, 11:00 am will be our first drawing.”

Harper says the afternoon will feature a number of keynote speakers including Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig…Sam Harper02

“He’ll speak for about 15 minutes and then he’s going to help us with our FFA recognition and give out some awards to our FFA chapters from the area and so that, I think we usually have about nine chapters from the area submit their application for the award and the top three get cash awards. At 12:30 we have a panel discussion discussing the trends in agriculture and we have Dave Ohpedal with the Federal Reserve, Mark Stok, co-owner of Big Iron Auctions and we have a representative from the Farmers Business Network coming in to be on that panel, so the audience will be able to ask questions. They’re going to give their prospective of what the trends are in agriculture right now.”

Trent Loose, a 6th generation farmer and host of a nationally syndicated radio show will round out the keynote speakers.
