(Sioux Rapids)– One person died in the collapse of some equipment at a Rembrandt Foods facility in Buena Vista county Friday.
Buena Vista County Emergency Management says authorities were called to the scene around 6:30 am. A news release from the agency says a structural failure resulted in a “catastrophic collapse of equipment in a barn”. A press release issued by Rembrandt Foods says there were two people in the facility at the time, and that one of them was not accounted for.
Local emergency responders arrived on the scene, and a specially equipped team from Sioux City was deployed.
A search for the victim continued until about 6:00 pm Friday at which time it was suspended due to safety concerns. The search resumed at 7:00 am Saturday. The victim’s body was recovered around 2:00 pm Saturday.
The name of the victim hasn’t been released.
