(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision this (Fri.) morning at the intersection of 23rd Street and Sunner Avenue in Spirit Lake sent one person to the hospital.
Spirit Lake police say 24-year-old Tark Thomas of Spirit Lake was driving a 2009 Isuzu truck westbound on 23rd Street and was approaching a vehicle that was stopped at the intersection waiting to turn onto Sunner Avenue. Officers say Thomas then swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting the rear of the vehicle that was stopped, and collided head-on with a 2016 Jeep Cherokee driven by 71-year-old Judy Rosenberg of Spirit Lake who was eastbound on 23rd Street.
Rosenberg was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare.
$15,000 in damage was estimated to the truck driven by Thomas and owned by Bomgaars Transportation; damage to the vehicle driven by Rosenberg was estimated at $16,000.
Thomas was cited for failure to maintain control.
The collision took place a little after 10:30 am.
